What To Expect At Your First Dental Visit

A spa-like, dental getaway for your teeth. We are dedicated to providing you with a comfortable and enjoyable experience! We are ALWAYS excited to get to know our new patients and address any questions or concerns they may have. The empowerment that comes with keeping patients informed about their oral health is what makes our work satisfying. Not only does it help you take better care of your teeth, but it can make our job easier, too.

It's Normal To Have Questions!

As a new patient, it is completely normal to have questions or concerns about what to expect during your first dental appointment. We pride ourselves on having a team that you can talk to. Want to know about time? Pricing? Procedures? We can help with that. Feeling uneasy or anxious prior to your visit? Let us and we'll do our best to make sure you feel at ease at all points of your visit. The more you communicate, the more we can help.

We Recommend A Comprehensive Oral Examination For Our New Patients

For all our new patients we recommend scheduling a 60-minute dental appointment with one of our dentists for a thorough initial examination. During this comprehensive oral examination, your dentist will assess your gums for periodontal disease and/or gum recession, chart each tooth to document prior dental work and screen for oral cancer, too. The whole shebang! The dentist will also take photographs of your teeth and x-rays to assess bone loss, cavities, abscesses and/or cysts unseen to the naked eye. Finally, if your dentist has made any diagnoses, they will create a treatment plan with you with all your options before explaining their relative pros and cons.

What About A Dental Cleaning?

Hygiene appointments are performed by our superstar hygienists and are typically booked as your second visit. Or, they are booked as a 1-hour add-on to your comprehensive oral exam. Has it been a while since you last flossed? Dreading the cleaning? Fear not. Think about it this way...When you vacuum the floor, you'll make sure to lift and move the rug to get all the dust underneath. It's the same with your teeth. The hygienist works to remove plaque and tartar (like the dust), with some hiding just out of sight under your gum line (like the rug). Their goal is to help you keep your teeth and gums healthy so you can keep them in the long run! We're aware cleanings can seem a little hard sometimes, but we always try our best to be gentle and cater to each person's needs. We encourage you to let your hygienist know if you have any preferences or concerns before or during your cleaning. This is the best way to help them cater to you! During your hygiene appointment, our hygienists will carefully and gently remove plaque, tartar and staining on your teeth. Additionally, your hygienist will advise you on hygiene habits to adopt and ways to improve your oral health before your next dental visit. Feel free to ask your hygienist for any additional tips and tricks!
